Bonanza S01E01

The Introduction
I realize that perhaps the intent was to do a lot of exposition within an action sequence, in order to get the show going quickly, but it was awkward and the plot to get there made no sense.

The Cartwright boys calling each other names about where they come from.  Additionally calling out each other for who their mother's were was stupid.  By the time the boys were their age they hadn't already hashed out being from different moms.  I also don't buy that 3 men that lost their mother's would talk bad about another mother that had died.  Additionally, with as heavy handed as Ben was in this episode, you'd think he would tolerate that sort of talk about his wives and the mothers of his sons.  The boys have to have seen how much he loved their mother's and for them to dare open their mouth like that doesn't track.

What was the deal with Ben hollering at Hop Sing?  At first, I thought he is just joking, but he lit into him hard and just kept at it.

The Relationship With The Actress
Joe has been with the actress all day long.  They walk in on them dancing and having an intimate moment.  Ben hauls Little Joe out of there, since he took off and made a mess.  They he indicates to Adam to go in with the actress.  Little Joe had kissed her on the hand and then Adam pulls her close and flat on kisses her on the mouth.  Adam had interacted with her for all of five minutes previous in the episode before then and it was a very confrontational five minutes.
